Hannah McMahon's sustainable textile creations are handcrafted in Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan under the company name Convert

With a background in textiles, Hannah loves the challenge of taking a preloved textile and giving it a new life as something else.

About Convert & Sustainability
Sustainability is at the heart of the brand and everything is made with a minimum of 70% upcycled fabrics by weight.
Operating a “closed loop” waste management policy, any fabric scrap generated is re-worked into other products to avoid production waste going to landfill.
Convert products are made with the help of renewable green energy thanks to an on-site solar energy supply.

Convert Sourcing Policy
Convert defines “upcycled” fabric as the following;

  • Fabric from an item that had a previous life and is no longer wanted by it’s owner.
  • Unwanted fabric donated to Convert otherwise destined for landfill.

When sourcing new raw materials, small independent suppliers are given preference.

All packaging and labelling is recycled, biodegradable or recyclable, sometimes all three!

About The Founder
Hannah is the creator behind Convert and has a background in textiles achieving a BSc at the University of Manchester.
As Hannah became more eco-conscious in her own lifestyle choices and purchase decisions, she began to re-think what “new” means.

In 2019 Hannah won the People’s Choice Award in the annual MyWaste Upcycle challenge. The project kickstarted a real interest in upcycling and heightened her awareness of how many natural resources are consumed in the manufacture of new textiles. It was this awareness that gave Hannah the inspiration to breathe new life into pre-loved items.
